Full Rewire in Darlington

Do you require a full rewire on your Darlington home? Demand Electrical Solutions can help you.

Here’s some images from a recently completed rewire in Hurworth little area just on the outskirts of Darlington. It is 3 bedroom property which was occupied however the client moved out for the week. This makes a massive difference when taking on a full rewire as each night we don’t have to be overly worried about getting the property back into a liveable state.

In this latest project we had an existing unused garage space with a power supply already in place.

The customer was looking for a way to add value to the property and create an additional living space for the evenings.

We ripped out all the existing wires and ran in new for the sockets and lighting. There was a total of ten double sockets and nine down lights to be switched via a dimmer.

Here's a video from our most recent project that we have completed. It's a full rewire on a 2 bedroom property in Darlington. It had been tested initially for a letting agent and the verdict was that it failed due to the age and condition of the installation.

Full rewires in Darlington

We’ve recently completed multiple rewires over the Christmas period and into the new year. Initially these projects were set to be smaller scale works.

When quoting works whilst on site, I’ll check the install over very briefly looking for anything to tell me the age or condition of the wiring.

If I feel like it’s of a poor standard or is well below the current criteria which is deemed safe I’ll discuss with the customer that’s it’s best we carry out a full electrical safety check first before we carry out any works.

We fully believe that it doesn’t need to be stressful whatsoever. With the right planning and communication it can be a hassle free smooth process. Things to bear in mind when hiring an electrician in Darlington:

Do they have the relevant insurances?

Everyone from time to time makes mistakes unintentionally and in some cases this can result in serious damage to building or contents. In this instance a claim against the insurance in the only way to go.

Often customers will get in touch and want to know if there rental or private property is due for a rewire. Below I will list some things which you can look for yourself then you can determine wether it’s worth calling a competent electrician to take a closer look.

1. Lighting fixtures - are they installed near the window rather the centre of the room ? This was common in the 50’s and 60’s, if the wiring is original then there’s a good chance it will be due for renewal.

Many people mention in passing to me how difficult it can be to find a reliable electrician in Darlington. Over the years a lot of effort has gone into making the process of finding electrician and checking qualifications and registration more accessible which is great news, however a lot of this isn't common knowledge amongst our customers who often aren't sure where the best places to look are.

What does an RCD/RCBO do?

What does an RCD/RCBO do?

Many people have heard the term RCD or RCBO but what does it actually mean and what does an RCD and RCBO do?

RCD stands for Residual current device. They offer a level of personal protection that ordinary fuses and circuit breakers cannot provide.  In short, it’s a life saving device designed to prevent you from receiving a fatal electric shock should you come into contact with something live such as a bare wire. An RCD can also provide protection against electrical fires.
